How I collect, use and look after your personal information when you use this website or my Career Second Opinion service.

Last updated 26 September 2026

1Who I am

I'm Dr Junaid Hussain. I'm responsible for the personal information described here, which makes me its data controller. If you have a question about this notice or your information, email me at contact@drjunaidhussain.com.

2What I collect

If you get in touch

When you email or message me, I get your name, your contact details and whatever you choose to tell me.

If you use the Career Second Opinion service

I collect what you give me on the referral form:

  • your name and email address
  • your profession, current role and how long you've been qualified
  • your CV and LinkedIn profile, if you share them
  • your answers about your situation, the options you're weighing up, what you won't compromise on, your timescale and what a good outcome would look like
  • anything else you choose to tell me, and how you heard about me

I also keep the letter and recording I prepare for you, and our emails.

If you leave the form part way through, your answers are saved in your own browser so you can pick up where you left off. Nothing reaches me until you pay and submit.

When you pay

Stripe takes your payment. I see your name, email address, the amount and whether the payment went through. I never see your card details.

When you visit this website

Squarespace, which hosts this site, records technical information such as your IP address, browser, device and the pages you visit. Some of this uses cookies, which are explained below.

3Health and other sensitive information

The form doesn't ask about your health. Some people mention burnout, a health condition or a disability because it affects their career. If you tell me, I use it only to prepare your review. I rely on your explicit consent for this, which you give by ticking the box on the form before you pay. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing me.

Please don't include patient information, or anything that could identify a patient.

4How I use your information

Data protection law says I need a lawful basis for each use. These are mine:

What I use it forLawful basis
Preparing your letter and recording, and answering your questions about themContract: I need it to provide the service you've asked for
Taking payment and keeping financial recordsContract, and a legal obligation to keep tax records
Coaching, if you choose it after your reviewContract
Replying when you get in touchLegitimate interests: answering people who contact me
Knowing how people find me, from the optional “How did you hear about me?” questionLegitimate interests: understanding where my work reaches people
Keeping this website working and secureLegitimate interests: running a safe, working website
Measuring how this website is usedConsent, which you give or refuse in the cookie banner
Any health information you choose to shareExplicit consent

I don't sell your information, use it for marketing or add you to a mailing list. I don't make automated decisions about you. If I'd ever like to quote you, for example as a testimonial, I'll ask first.

You don't have to give me any information, but I can't prepare your review without your name, email address and a reasonable picture of your situation.

5Who else handles it

I use a small number of services to run this, and they handle your information on my behalf:

  • Squarespace, which hosts this website
  • Tally, which runs the referral form and stores your answers and CV in Europe
  • Stripe, which processes payments. Stripe also uses payment information for its own purposes, such as preventing fraud, under its own privacy policy
  • Google, which provides my email (Google Workspace) and this website's analytics (Google Analytics)
  • the tools I use to record your walkthrough and, if you go on to coaching, to book and hold sessions

I'll share information if the law requires it, and with a professional adviser such as an accountant if I need to. Otherwise, it stays with me.

Some of these providers process information outside the UK, including in the United States. When they do, it's protected by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.

6How long I keep it

  • Your form answers, CV, letter, recording and our emails about them: 12 months after your letter is delivered, then I delete them. If you go on to coaching, 12 months after your last session.
  • Payment records: six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, because tax law requires it.
  • Other emails and messages: up to two years after we were last in touch.
  • Website analytics: for as long as Squarespace and Google Analytics keep it under my account settings.

7Cookies

This website uses a small number of cookies. Some are needed for the site to work and are always on. Others measure how the site is used, through Squarespace Analytics and Google Analytics, and are only set if you accept them in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie Preferences button at the bottom of the page.

If you decline, Google Analytics doesn't set cookies, but Google may still receive basic, cookie-free information that a page was viewed.

When you open the referral form, Tally and Stripe use cookies or similar technology in your browser to make the form and payment work and to prevent fraud.

8Keeping it safe

Your information is kept in secure, password-protected accounts that only I can access.

9Your rights

You have the right to:

  • get a copy of the information I hold about you
  • have it corrected if it's wrong
  • have it deleted
  • ask me to limit how I use it
  • object to how I use it
  • have it sent to you, or to someone else, in a format that's easy to reuse
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where I rely on it

To use any of these, email me. It's free, and I'll reply within one month. If the law requires me to keep something, such as payment records, I'll tell you.

10Complaints

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please email me first. I'll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, look into it and tell you the outcome.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

If I change this notice, I'll update this page and the date at the top. Questions? Email contact@drjunaidhussain.com.
