An honest second opinion on your next career move
Written up like a clinic letter, so you know exactly where you stand.
If you're a doctor or clinician wondering what comes next, send me your situation and your CV. I'll read it all and, normally within five working days, send you two pages of written advice with a short recording talking you through it. There's no discovery call and no sales pitch. You just get my view of where you are and what I'd do in your shoes.
Re: Dr A. Example, GP, eight sessions a week
Wants to drop to four clinical sessions within a year without losing income.
Strong urgent care record. The CV buries two years of teaching.
Ready to move. The risk is the order of the steps, not ability.
- Secure one paid education session first.
- Rewrite the CV summary around leadership.
- Six sessions by April, four by October.
Keep sessions until new income covers half the gap.
An example. The details are made up.
Most people come to me with one of two questions
The service and the price are the same either way. You'll tell me which fits when you fill in the form.
You want your clinical career to look different
Perhaps you want fewer sessions, a portfolio career, remote or non-NHS work, a leadership role, or a way out of clinical practice altogether.
- Should I cut my sessions and build something alongside?
- Is remote or non-NHS work realistic for someone like me?
- Partnership, salaried, locum, or something else entirely?
What you'll send: your situation, the options you're weighing, what you won't compromise on, and your CV.
You want to work in digital health or industry
You're drawn to health tech, industry, or NHS digital and transformation work, and you want to know whether your background will get you there.
- Which roles would actually suit me?
- What's missing from my CV?
- Which courses and credentials are worth the time?
What you'll send: the same, plus any projects, training or experience that point you towards innovation.
About twenty minutes of your time, then it's over to me
-
Fill in the form
Tell me where you are and where you'd like to be, upload your CV if you have one, then pay. Most people take around 20 minutes.
-
I go through it properly
I read everything you've sent and weigh it against the roles and routes you're considering.
-
Your letter arrives
Normally within five working days, you'll get two pages of written advice and a short recording of me talking it through.
-
You decide what happens next
For most people the letter is enough. If you'd like help putting it into practice, coaching is there, and your fee comes off the price.
A clinic letter about your career
I write it the way I'd write to a colleague about a patient. It's a format I trust, it keeps me clear, and you'll recognise the headings.
Presenting complaint
The question you're really asking, in a line or two. It isn't always the one you started with.
Findings
What your CV and background say to the people you want to work for, including anything you're underselling.
Impression
What I think is going on, said plainly.
Plan
Two or three routes, each with the first few steps to take and the kinds of roles or organisations to look at.
Safety-netting
What would change my advice, and the traps I'd want you to avoid.
Follow-up
What to do this month, and when to take stock again.
Plusa 10 to 15 minute recording of me talking you through the letter.
I've made most of these moves myself
I've been a practising doctor for over 16 years, across primary, urgent and emergency care in the UK and the Middle East. Along the way I built primary care services in Saudi Arabia from scratch, led a Saudi Board Family Medicine training programme through accreditation, qualified as a Clinical Safety Officer and started a health tech consultancy.
So I've wrestled with most of the choices my clients bring me, from portfolio work and working overseas to leadership, teaching and industry. I know what it's like to be unsure, and how much it helps when someone gives you a straight answer.
I'd rather give you an honest answer you can act on than a comfortable one you can't.
Honesty and integrity come first
They've mattered to me throughout my career, in medicine and in business. It's why I'd rather tell you a move doesn't make sense than watch you spend a year finding that out.
What you can count on
- My real view, even when it isn't what you hoped to hear.
- If I don't think I can help, I'll tell you within two working days and refund you in full.
- No pressure to buy coaching. Most people don't need it, and if you don't, I'll say so.
- What you share is used for your review and nothing else.
What this isn't for
- Reviewing a product, start-up or pitch. I do that work through Health Collider.
- Clinical, legal, tax, pension or financial advice.
- Writing your CV for you. I'll tell you what to change, and the changes are yours to make.
- Patient enquiries.

Before you start
Do we need to speak?
No. Everything comes to you in writing, with a short recording. We'd only speak if you decide to go on to coaching afterwards.
How quickly will I hear back?
Normally within five working days. If there's ever a delay on my end, I'll let you know straight away.
What do I need to send?
You'll fill in a short form and upload your CV as a PDF, plus your LinkedIn profile if you have one. No CV? That's fine. Just answer the questions as fully as you can. The form also asks which role, if any, you'd most like.
What if you can't help?
Then I'll tell you within two working days and refund you in full. I'd rather do that than send advice I don't stand behind. Once your letter has been delivered, the fee isn't refundable.
Will you try to sell me coaching?
No. Most people find the letter is enough. If I think coaching would help, I'll say so once, in the letter, and leave it with you.
Is this regulated advice?
No. It's career guidance from a doctor who has changed direction a few times himself. It isn't clinical, legal, tax, pension or financial advice.
Is it confidential?
Yes. I use what you send me to prepare your review. I don't pass it on or use it for marketing. My privacy notice has the details.
I'm building a health tech product. Can you look at it?
That's not what this is for. I do that work through Health Collider, so healthcollider.com is the best place to start.
